Kingsmead Stay and Play

Residents at Kingsmead will now have access to brand new Stay and Play sessions at Kingsmead Community Centre with an emphasis on encouraging people to find out more about a career in childminding.

With a dearth of registered childminders on the Kingsmead estate, demand is currently outstripping supply.

Advice on taking up childminding as a career is being offered to interested parents and carers who attend the sessions.

Being funded by Sanctuary Housing, they are run by registered childminders who will be able to signpost people to training.

There will also be plenty of fun indoor and outdoor activities to keep children entertained as well as chance for parents to relax.

Supported by the Hackney Marsh Partnership and Hackney Learning Trust, they start on 31 October and run every Tuesday from 10am until 12 noon during term time at the Kingsmead Way venue.

The sessions are the ideal opportunity for parents and carers to spend time with their children in a different environment. In addition, they will also be able to learn more about a potential new career path from experienced childminders.

Hilary Wilgress, Childminding Network Co-ordinator at the Hackney Learning Trust, said: “Being a childminder is such a rewarding experience and I would encourage parents and carers to come along to find out more.”

For more information about the sessions, please contact Elizabeth on 07580 761747 or Grace on 0207 749 1210
